This class is a continuation of the Beginning Retriever Class. The objective of this class is to teach you how to teach your dog. In this class you will learn to do multiple retrieves, the basics of handling, blind retrieves, lining and the art of the Honor. This is where the real work begins and your dog will need a true desire to retrieve in order to succeed. There will be much more emphasis on obedience and control in this class. To take this class your dog must be steady at the line and deliver to hand without dropping the bird. Your dog must also be able to heel off lead. There will be no exceptions. If your dog is not capable of these requirments you will be asked to leave the class
Classes will be held over a ten week period. There will be five two day weekend sessions held every other weekend starting on April 28th and 29th 2012. Classes will run from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM and will be held at Prado Dog Park. On Saturday sessions, the previous two-week homework assignments will be reviewed and assessed. On Sunday we will practice what has been learned and the next two weeks assignments will be demonstrated and given out. The classes are held every other week in order to give you and your dog time to learn your lessons. If you do not want or cannot work with your dog for 1/2 hour a day please do not take this class.
Pack leadership fundamentals and obedience will be used to train your dog. Treat training, clicker training and e-collers will not be used in this class. Your dog will be trained to perform because he wants to not because he has to. They are after all retrievers.
These classes are being offered by "Ruff" Ryder Kennels in association with Inland Valley Retriever Club. The cost for the class is $250.00 and you can register at the link below. If you have any questions please contact Bill Quinn at wjw7@aol.com. We are only taking 12 dogs so if you are interested, sign up as soon as possible.
