BEGINING RETRIEVER CLASS
The objective of this class is to teach you to train your dog.  You will learn the fundamentals of obedience and the necessary basic skills needed to build a high quality-hunting dog.  We will teach you and your dog to be good citizens in a blind.  We will teach you and your dog how to be reasonably steady at the line and to deliver a bird to hand undamaged.  Your dog will be able to retrieve on water and land and be able to handle terrain changes.  You and your dog will learn the tools needed to pass a Junior Hunt Test and have the fundamentals to move on to senior level training.

Classes will be held over a ten week period.  There will be five two day weekend sessions held every other weekend starting on May 15nth and 16nth.  Classes will run from 8:00 AM to 12 Noon and will be held at Prodo Dog Park.  On Saturday sessions, the previous two-week homework assignments will be reviewed and assessed.  On Sunday we will practice what has been learned and the next two weeks assignments will be demonstrated and given out.  The classes are held every other week in order to give you and your dog time to learn your lessons.  If you do not want or cannot work with your dog for 1/2 hour a day please do not take this class.

Pack leadership fundamentals and obedience will be used to train your dog.  Treat training, clicker training and e-collers will not be used in this class.  Your dog will  be trained to perform because he wants to not because he has to.  They are after all retrievers.

These classes are being offered by "Ruff" Ryder Kennels in association with Inland Valley Retriever Club.  The cost for the class is $200.00 and you can register at the link below.  If you have any questions please contact Bill Quinn at wjw7@aol.com.  We are only taking 12 dogs so if you are interested; sign up as soon as possible.

As of 4/27/10 this class is now full.  If you are interested in the class please register and if we get enough people we will start a second class. We currently need eight more people.
